Boarding Call 🚀

✈️ Sometimes the biggest shift in travel happens quietly. Apple just pushed one of those updates.

Adding my passport to the iPhone

Last week, during a layover in Miami, I tested Apple’s new Digital ID. Opened Wallet, scanned my U.S. passport, verified my face.
Ninety seconds later, the document I use the most when traveling lived inside my phone.

Insight:
Identity is still the slowest workflow in travel. Everything else got automated. This part never did.

Takeaway:
Digital ID cuts out the repetitive document checks. For domestic travel, it means fewer stops, fewer errors, and faster movement through TSA.

A new identity layer for bookings

At Travel Code, we watch where travelers lose time.

One of the biggest drains is identity verification: hotels asking for documents, airlines retyping passport data, corporate travelers uploading the same file again and again.

Testing Digital ID made one thing obvious: Apple wants to become the trust layer.

Not storing your documents, but confirming them instantly.

Insight:

When identity becomes a tap instead of a process, the entire booking flow changes.

Takeaway:

Expect faster check-in, fewer mistakes, and smoother corporate approvals. Once airlines integrate it, the experience will feel very different from today.

What it changes for travel platforms

For us, this shift is meaningful.

Corporate clients often need quick, clean verification for high-volume bookings. Digital ID reduces manual work and reduces risk at the same time.

Insight:

The next wave of travel tech isn’t about new inventory. It’s about removing friction from existing journeys.

Takeaway:

Digital ID will become a standard input for travel apps. The platforms that adopt it early will win on speed, compliance, and trust.

Final thought

The most transformative upgrades in travel are often invisible.

Digital ID feels like one of them.

Manage travel. Don’t just book it.
